The concept “Related” brings home the importance of location and family living for this Sydney residence.
“Related” is inspired by the future life of the young family who lives there, as well as relating the new build to their memories and heritage.
Inspirations included family heirlooms, children’s artworks, and the need to bring some softness and comfort inside a very contemporary external structure.
Equally important the concept “Related” links the home’s riverside location, and how it is cut into and out of a Sydney sandstone cliff.
The interior materials relate to the location harmoniously to the site by use of natural stone, grasscloth wallpaper, spotted gum timber,
sandstone pavers. Patterns from within the materials relate to the surroundings whilst and flow through the house.
The personality of the family can be seen in the interiors through contemporary clean lines that are softened with waterfall edges and subtle honey hues, and the selection of blue artisan tiles and soft-edged timber cabinetry. The old and new family artworks are features of each space they inhabit, and are themselves where the interior colour palette was drawn from.
