REDEFINE – REDEFINING THE AMERICAN LAKEHOUSE

REDEFINE – REDEFINING THE AMERICAN LAKEHOUSE

“Redefine” the traditional expectations of a lake-house.

Environmentally innovative materials feature in this two pavilion house located in Seabrook, Texas, USA.

Pavilion one includes the open plan lounge and kitchen. The kitchen is both the centre of the home yet the heart of the home – is the bar.

The fully functional kitchen is hidden in plain sight within the countertops and cabinetry of what is presented as a showcase bar of porcelain and semi precious agate.

It is this centrepiece from which the owner wanted to entertain from and base the concept around.

Black walls frame the lake views whilst elsewhere a playful, energetic colour palette invites residents and visitors to relax and enjoy themselves.

Pavilion two holds the more personal areas and is more meditative in palette and materials and includes a Japanese master retreat.

Redefine represents the first international project of South Coast Colour, with the client working in Saudi Arabia, building from the plan in Houston Texas, and myself as designer working from Berry, NSW.

The project is an example of what can be achieved with 3D modelling tools and communication options. Client and designer relationships are no longer limited by distance.
