The clients had recently relocated to the South Coast and were loving their blissful location but finding the house did not reflect their love of the area or express their family story. The brief was to bring the colour and quirks, the vibrancy and fun of family life, and express it through a personalised, multi-layered coastal (sometimes industrial) style.
The results are harmonious and uplifting. If the local coastal breeze could be identified as a colour it would be Porters Paints Newport Blue, which is used as a key colour we then layered up, down and around from. Shape and pattern were used to establish focal points in each room and explore the tastes of the owners.
Each element is methodically “Elevated”. We used traditional fabrications such as terrazzo but within furniture not flooring; we hung traditional wine maps alongside the family’s own photographs printed on the latest technology (acrylic substrate); the colourful upholstery fabrics have hidden properties such as stain & UV fading resistance.
The two home offices have strong, independent aesthetic directions that happily coexist within the concept of “Elevated”. Downstairs the prettiness and sophistication of Patricia Braune’s wallpaper design and Kate Spade designer lighting elevate what was a small dark room into a warm happy hug.
Upstairs the second office features a specialty rust-patina wall finish that reveals stencils of the client’s hobbies and other hidden meanings which elevate the space far beyond the expected elements of a home office.
New furniture and lighting were purchased to elevate the enjoyment of each room, with particular care to choose fabrics and design storage practical for robust young children.
Together the rooms are connected through colour, light and curation which all combine to “Elevate Family Living” past the expected formula and through to bespoke design.
