It’s pretty well known that you don’t approach the idea of reupholstering furniture in search of a bargain, as it often works out around the same price as purchasing a new piece like a contemporary occasional chair.

But when it’s about heart, family, heirloom pieces, or a deep love of classic timeless design, that’s when I recommend let’s look at fabrics to revitalise and reuse items worth putting the love into. Not to mention is still the greenest option, so, feel good vibes all over.

Pantone’s 2025 Mocha Mousse is a comforting coffee and chocolate brown, though to my eyes it’s not particularly exciting by itself, what’s interesting about it is how well it plays with others. Could we be approaching colour trends with a more sustainable viewpoint, of enriching what we have rather than replacing things for the sake of trend?

I do have a few tips to take from this stunning interior. if you want your home decorations to come across as more elegant try limiting your colour palette to 1 or 2 colours and treat the tree as a neutral. Create interest with shape and texture. For extra twinkle, harness the sun - a large crystal chandelier will indeed do the trick 🤩

I adore the colours of Krystal de Villa’s art - no one captures the feeling of the rolling green hills at sunset and the way the colours play with water like Krystal does. I kept this scheme simple to show you how impactful the right colours are - so emotive, so balanced, and still personal (to my story at least). Art is inspiration. My job here is to bring the stunning colours from outside to inside, so the fabrics & paint shown are UV and weather resistant.

Back in the 18th Century new trade routes between China and Europe were established so designs not seen beyond Asia like fabrics with motifs, heightened colour combinations and historical stories with cultural depth captured imaginations in Europe and then around the world. It’s the fearless expressive colour combinations I adore - turquoise with reds, golds with olives, pinks and yellows - a bounty of joyful colour inspiration that never leaves me.
